Hurricane Camille Memorial
It was the evening of August 17, 1969 that Biloxi, Mississippi was hit by THE WORST STORM called CAMILLE.My husband and his family was with in the vicinity of Biloxi at that time. Some of their neighbors perished and surrounding houses blown away from 200+mph winds and water surge was 30 feet. This is the "Hurricane Camille Memorial", 172 names was listed plus a space of missing/unknown people who lost their lives during the storm. The metal frame that you see in the background is the old Episcopal Church of the Redeemer totally damaged by hurricane Katrina. A flagpole was twisted and remain as part of the historic site. Look at the mosaic showing the hurricane Camille, huge art work on the circle under the pool of water.Okay, that is me. I was just looking at the list of names. The artwork of Camille in the pool is really extraordinary.
