I sent 8 Balikbayan Boxes to the Philippines using UMAC Express Cargo. From pick-up to delivery, will be two months. Since there is an UMAC office in our city, the arrival date is on time. All the items in the box was accounted for but, not everyone was happy with their services. I had known that PEANUTBUTTER , not her real name lost a camera worth $2oo. She had some expensive items in the box but, only one was stolen.
If you are planning to send a Balikbayan Box, make sure you securely sealed the whole box.
- I use 2 big rolls of masking tape or packaging tape to secure the WHOLE box.
- I itimized the items and insert list inside.
- I also write the items in the cover of the box (underneath).
- I have 6 computerized address in a bond paper and tape it again on each side of the box.
- I checked my receipt and I usually put a reasonable amount for the box content. Make sure not over the limit. I put $400 for the large box and $250 for the small box. It went through the custom anyway. I usually claim birthday gifts on the item section so, that will help a lot. I usually sent the pakage for that occassion anyway.
I hope this will help you out. I know some of you who had a bad experience with UMAC and opt not to send anymore. Sorry to hear about that but, for those who are so desperate to TRACK your box, here is the Website umaccargo.net and click your country. Scroll down and you will find the TRACK YOUR BOX on the left side and follow the instructions. Just type your code found in the receipt. When you click GO, it will start searching. Once it arrived in the Philippines, you can track your ETA. Meaning, you cannot track your box if it is not in the Philippines yet. Good luck Kabayan.

hi, I read your site about UMAC cargo, let me just share my experience with this company. it really made our yuletide season really bad. we are expecting a balikbayan package from Canada that was sent through UMAC. If your not aware, during christmas, a lot of carrier companies have each modus operandi or schemes to loot on your boxes. but this one really is something bad. they had come to or house, got my mom's ID and said they'll just get the box from their truck... but minutes past when we found out that they had sped away from us. we called their company and when someone return back, they claimed that someone under an unfamiliar name already claim the package. accdg to the field agent... the one that asked for my mom's ID was not with them but infact introduced himself as our family member... THE QUESTION IS: why did they let that person sign the receive form without getting any identification card?
one of our neighbor saw that the carrier dropped off the said person with the package few blocks away from our house.. who later on rode a cab.
this is how the carriers "work" their way into most balikbayan boxes being delivered here in the philippines. so I strongly suggest that if you will send your love ones packages with UMAC,.. better think twice,...
your gift and packages for your love ones might only be enjoyed by some looters and unreliable delivery services.
