From the church in Merritt Island, hubby and I love to drive down the scenic route along the NASA Parkway and Indian River Lagoon. Yesterday, I directed my husband to turn on the left heading to the Manatee Cove. When we arrived at the parking lot towards the end of the road, I saw these 3 people enjoying their Kayak ride. According to one tourist, Manatee Cove is one of the best places to see manatees. I never seen a manatee yet and I live 15 minutes away from here, such ironic huh? I will try to rent a kayak and explore my place. I am so envious seeing them paddling (wink).
In most days, manatees shows up here too but, today is not my lucky day. Manatees are huge, aquatic, and herbivorous marine mammals. They are also known as sea cows. They measure up to 13 feet long and weigh as much as 1,300 pounds. They have a paddle-like flippers. Oh , see that beautiful house? What a glorious location huh?
I might go along with groups of tourist for canoeing and kayaking. I am fearful of gators. I wonder if gators wander in this area too. Manatees are harmless big baby.
Next post, I will show you the pictures of the children's playground and the pavilion in Manatee Cove. Thanks for stopping by.

How peaceful looking! I've lived on the coast most of my life and never seen a manatee either (outside of an aquarium visit...I think...).
my son and I went swimming with the manatees back in march it was awesome. Is this located here in FL
The photos look like a lot of fun. And it looks like something I could do and wouldn't be too nervous. That's pretty cool to live so close to the Manatee Cove. You can visit often.
What a nice place to kayak! I've seen a manatee at the zoo one time and i know how big they can get. It might be scary to go kayaking there with manatee in it. hehehe
Looks like a fun time!! I can't wait to see your next post.
Manatees are my favorite animal. I go kayaking all the time but never see them. I have to go to a power plant in winter to see them :(. Beautiful pictures!
I wished they would have shown up for you to see.
My father in law goes to a place where the Mantees are too. I wonder if it is the same place. I would love to see that. Great pictures.
Very interesting, I have never seen nor known about Manatee, however the minute you mentioned it in your post. I get curious and search it online.
I love kayaking, I've done that before and will do it again. Just so much fun to see while you do that.
Mommy Amy, I think this was the place the my SIL went to along with her boyfriend and they went kayaking and saw some Manatees. She lives in Venice, Florida and loves to travel and explore as well. Sounds like a fun day kayaking. We used to canoe just Tim and I, but not anymore now that we have kids. :)
